In its original iteration the Ryder cup was played between the USA and Great Britain, in this era USA dominated losing only once between the end of WWII and the beginning of the modern era when Great Britain added players from continental Europe to their team and competed as team Europe.

Since becoming Team Europe the collective has consistently managed to foster a team spirit and determination to be greater than the sum of their parts. Although containing some legendary names the European team was often out gunned on paper by their American counterparts but their togetherness made and continues to make them a fiercely competitive unit.

Since winning their first Ryder Cup as Europe in 1985 they have gone on to master the competition at home with some bullying performances and also scoring some iconic victories on American shores. Their record to date since 1985 is 12 wins and 6 defeats.

As well as their brilliant golf the European team is famous for its enthusiastic celebrations often lead by stalwarts of the modern era including Ian Poulter, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Sergio Garcia and many more.

Let’s all enjoy the winning moment
